1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how SkillDeck, LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("SkillDeck," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use the SkillDeck website, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
By accessing or using the Services, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in this Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Services.
Effective Date: October 3, 2026
2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
- Account information: Name, email address, phone number, profile photo, and account credentials.
- Profile information: Bio, skills, service listings, pricing, location, and professional qualifications.
- Transaction information: Details about orders, payments, and service agreements.
- Communications: Messages between users, support requests, and feedback.
- Reviews and ratings: Content you submit as part of our review system.
- Follows: The users you follow on the Platform.
- Recommendations: If you write a recommendation, the relationship you choose, how you describe your connection to the seller, and your words. If you receive one, whether you show, dismiss, or hide it.
- Identity verification: Government-issued ID or other documents when required for verification.
- Category requests ("Tell me when someone lists…"): If you ask us to tell you when someone lists a kind of work or product in your area, we keep the category (or subcategory), the market it is for, your language, and an optional note of up to 280 characters. If you are not signed in, we also keep the email address you type, unless that address belongs to an account: then the request is added to that account, and the account's own settings decide how we reach it. If you are signed in, the request belongs to your account and we reach you through your account's email and settings. You choose what goes in the note, so it may contain personal details: only our team reads it, and it is never shown to sellers or used for analytics.
Information Collected Automatically
- Device information: Device type, operating system, browser type, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, search queries, clicks, timestamps, and referring URLs.
- Location data: Approximate location based on IP address, and precise location when you grant permission (used for finding nearby services).
- Log data: IP address, access times, error logs, and server logs.
Information from Third Parties
- Payment processor: Stripe provides us with limited transaction data (e.g., payment status, last four digits of payment method) as needed to facilitate payments.
- Authentication providers: If you sign in using a third-party service, we may receive your name and email address from that provider.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Services.
- Process transactions and send related notifications.
- Connect Clients with Service Providers based on location, service type, and preferences.
- Facilitate communications between users through the Platform.
- Verify identity and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
- Send service-related communications (order updates, account notifications, security alerts).
- Personalize your experience and provide relevant recommendations.
- Rank listings from sellers you follow higher in your own search results when you are signed in. This uses only your own follows and does not affect other users' search results.
- Tell you once when someone lists what you asked for, and show sellers and our team how many people asked for it (a number only, never who).
- Analyze usage patterns to improve our features and user experience.
- Enforce our Terms of Service and comply with legal obligations.
- Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:
- Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest.
- Secure authentication mechanisms, including phone-based verification.
- Regular security assessments and monitoring.
- Access controls limiting employee access to personal data.
While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. After account deletion, we may retain certain data as required by law, to resolve disputes, or to enforce our agreements. Specifically:
- Account data: Retained while your account is active, plus a reasonable period after deletion for backup and legal purposes.
- Transaction records: Retained for a minimum of 7 years as required for tax and financial reporting.
- Communications: Retained for the duration of the business relationship and as needed for dispute resolution.
- Usage data: Generally retained in aggregate, anonymized form for analytics purposes.
- Moderation records: To keep the platform safe, we keep a record of policy violations and of the moderation decisions we make about an account, such as a listing we removed, a suspension, a report we upheld or a group we closed.
- Category requests: A request, with its note, is deleted 90 days after we tell you that someone listed what you asked for. If you are not signed in and nobody lists it, the request (with your email address and note) is deleted one year after you last asked. A request that belongs to an account stays open until it is fulfilled or the account is deleted.
- Emails to an address without an account: For each email we send about a request to an address that has no account, we keep a record of: the address; the kind of email and its language; its subject line and what it said about your request (the category, the market, and the listing's title and link); when it was queued and sent; and whether it was delivered, with our email provider's reference for it. We delete each record 90 days after the email was sent (or after it was queued, if it was never sent).
- If you unsubscribe from those emails: We delete your requests and their notes at once (and the requests of any account that uses the address), and cancel the emails not yet sent. In the records above we replace your address with a one-way fingerprint of it (a hash) and remove the subject line and what the email said; what is left (the kind of email, its language, the dates and whether it was delivered) is deleted on the same 90-day schedule. We keep the fingerprint on our list of addresses that asked us to stop, so that we never email that address about requests again.
8. Children's Privacy
The Services are not intended for individuals under 18 years of age, and you must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@skilldeck.com.
9. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion: Request that we delete your personal information, subject to legal requirements.
- Portability: Request a machine-readable copy of your data.
- Opt out of communications: Unsubscribe from promotional emails (you will still receive essential service communications).
- Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
To exercise these rights, contact us at support@skilldeck.com. We will respond within 30 days (or as required by applicable law).
You can also make some choices directly on the Platform. You can unfollow any user at any time. If you asked us, without an account, to tell you when something is listed, the unsubscribe link in our email stops those emails and deletes your requests. A recommendation you receive stays off your profile unless you choose to show it, and you can hide it later. You can edit or withdraw a recommendation you wrote.
10. International Data Transfers
SkillDeck operates primarily in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. These countries may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.
By using the Services, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other jurisdictions as described in this Policy.
11. Third-Party Links
The Services may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not operated by SkillDeck. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you visit.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice on the Platform before the changes take effect. The "Effective Date" at the top of this Policy indicates the date of the most recent revision.
Your continued use of the Services after any changes to this Policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
13. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), grants you additional rights:
- Right to know: You may request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the sources of collection, the purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties with whom we share information.
- Right to delete: You may request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to correct: You may request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of sale/sharing: We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
